Help. My Cheeks are HUGE after Wisdom Teeth Extraction?

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out on Wed. They were impacted, and all of them were under the gums. It went really well, i haven't felt much pain and I havent been spitting blood or anything. Everyone was telling me how good i looked yesterday, and then i wake up this morning and my mom's like "Your cheeks are really swollen!" I was planning on going out to the movies with some friends tonight, but I dont want to go out looking like this. What can i do to reduce the swelling? I was told ice packs wouldn't work after 24 hours of getting them extracted. I really want to get out of the house, and i know my friends won't joke about it but i look like a chipmunk!
Answer:
I was swollen for about 4 days. It peaks at about day 3. Warm towel or heating pad helps. Ice packs for only the first 24 hours. Elevating your head with a couple of pillows when sleeping or laying down helped a lot. Keep up with the pain meds. Good luck!
Well, I can tell you that after mine were taken out I was home Monday through Friday, I looked like Buzz Lightyear with the HUGE chin. My doctor had made a point to tell me to stay indoors and just rest, any extra activity could slow the healing time.
Swelling is extremely normal. Take some ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) and yes, ice packs.
Get some sandwich sized ziploc bags and half fill them with ice and seal them----put one full bag on each cheek... this will help take the swelling down.do it for 20 minutes at a time and do it several times during the day. the swelling WILL go down as long as you keep icing it with these bags.
Take advil or mortin
