Answer:
Braces are bonded to your teeth in a painless procedure. Depending on the professional who will put them, the process takes between 45 minutes and 90 minutes if you need to put them on all your teeth. There is a special instrument that removes braces when your orthodontic treatment will be finished. It will be painless but might be a bit uncomfortable. Nothing to worry about.
In most cases they use glue. They will apply a little bit to your teeth and then attach the metal fitting to the front. When all of the fittings are on they will run a wire through them to either tighten or loosen your teeth gradually. They will be a little uncomfortable at first, but not in a painful way. The whole process should take about an hour. Just make sure that you pick up some orajel on the way home to put on your lips for the first day or two to numb the sensation of the metal rubbing against them. All in all they aren't too bad.As far as getting them removed goes...its a really easy process that usually takes around 30-40 minutes, but you'll be so excited to see how your teeth look that you wont' even notice.Good luck.J-
I had the metal braces awhile ago but the orthodontist (or nurse) cleans your teeth first and then has some sort of cement (made for braces, don't worry) and uses one of their picks to apply the cement to your tooth. The cement sets for a few seconds and the bracket (metal or whatever you chose) is placed on top of the cement. This is done on each tooth. It shouldn't really take too long. Perhaps an hour? (it's been awhile, I don't remember exactly). For me, the worst part was the tightening of the wires every month AND the blisters in your mouth from the rubbing of the braces (ok, maybe that was then...and proceedures have improved since then). Taking the braces off?? The wire comes off first...and then each bracket. How you ask? My orthodontist pulled each off each tooth...it was horrible since you feel like it would take your tooth off with it...but it doesn't. Again, I hope the proceedure has changed, for your sake. BUT, the end result...beautiful teeth.
Good luck...all will be well in the end. A little pain does not hurt anyone, especially if the result is great looking teeth for the rest of your life. =)
you know sugar, you were probably told by your dentist about 10 times as well as your mom and anyone else you talked into telling you.its not hard, just tedious. you failed to mention what kind you are getting.regular braces have plasctic pieces glued on your teeth, they have slats in the middle to hold the wire that will wrap your teeth and the doctor tightens these wires to pull and align your teeth according to your jawline.each month you will go to get these tightened. now the wires are held on by tiny rubber bands that click onto the plastic pieces. so when you get them tightened the dentist will take off each band and replace it while tightening the wire.so when you leave the office your teeth will be very sensative and you will not be able to drink anything hot, or eat anything hard, like burgers etc, warm soup, mashed potatoes, that kind of stuff so make sure you are not hungry before you go.it takes a few hours to get back to normal ususally the next day your okay to eat anything. however, you are not allowed to eat really hard candy, nuts hard bagels cause the plastic things comes off easy.it normally takes about 40 minutes to tighten each month and about an hour to put them on 1st time.it doesn't take long to get them off but he sill have to sand off the glue and that takes awhile. probably an hour for removal.but you will probably leave them on for at least 2 years give or take depending on what needs to be done.
1.ok first they have to clean the teeth and put special stuff on them.
2. They put a special kind of glue on each bracket and put it on.
3. They put a special kind of light over them for each individual tooth.
4. They put the wires on.
5. Your done!
First they put on your back bands on your molars, they're metal rings on your back molars, 4 of them. the stuff they use to do that tastes like playdoh. THen they put bonding material on your teeth and put the brackets on. just little metal squares on your teeth. they have to hold them in place and shine a special light on them to make the bonding material set. then they put a wire on your brackets, one wire on top and one on bottom through a slit in the brackets. then they tie it on using little colorful rubber circles u can pick what color you want. About every month you go back to get your ties changed and have any adjustments made. Getting them off takes about 1/3rd as long as on (which is about 1 to 2 hours), maybe45 minutes. they just take off your bands, then pull off the brackets it doesnt hurt AT ALL. then they sand off the bonding material and take a mold for ur retainer that u get in a couple days. you have to wear that for 4 months day and night, then at night only for 2 years, then a few nights a week, then only a few nights a month. Make SURE you brush your teeth or u'll have this stripe on ur teeth where the brackets were and when u get them off WEAR YOUR RETAINER or ur teeth will move back to where they were before and your life will suck

  1. Braces also can prevent gaps from separating your teeth as it aligns them properly. You will never have to deal with unsightly gaps if you use braces at an early age.
