How bad do your teeth have to be to get them pulled?

i have a dentist appointment for check up and cleaning and if i have a cavity i wanted to know how bad it is for them to remove the tooth. i am terrified of dentists and stuff like this always crosses my mind.
Answer:
It would have to be really bad. Most dentists will do a filling if you have a cavity and a root canal if you had a very deep cavity that caused damage to the nerve (you would probably be having pain or a dental abcess if this was the case). Extracting a tooth is always a last resort! Try to relax when you go, bring your headphones and if you are concerned about discomfort take some Advil or Tylenol before you go. Trust me- no one wants to make you feel nervous! Ask them to tell you what they are going to do prior to doing it. Hope that helps! Good luck!

if they can't save the tooth, then they will pull it.
if you dont take catre of your teeth and you need aroot canal and dont do it,wait too long, or root canal fails because you didnt get root canal done in time and it got to infected...or you just dont take care of your teeth and root canals they have to remove them because the decay spread through out the tooth entirely cause of years of neglet or your wisdow teeth need to come out..and if you still feel nervous please ask for sweet air this may calm your nerves and help you relax...tell them your really nervous and need sweet air to say calm..hope this helped
It depends on how bad the decay is. Most of the time you can save the tooth with a root canal if the decay goes into the nerve of the tooth. An extraction is the last resort. Don't be nervous. You will be fine.
