How can you tell if you have a cavity? Is it possible to have 2 opposite of each other in the same spot ?

i want to know if its possible to have 2 cavities at the same time on the same teeth on each side of you mouth at the exact same spot. Or is it just a random whole thats just there because of the way your teeth are.
Answer:
The only way that you can know for sure whether or not you have a cavity is to have a dentist do an exam using a dental instrument and to view other areas that you can get cavities, x-rays will need to be done. What you have described is possible and maybe even more so if your teeth were formed in such a way that made it more of a target area for bacteria to build up.Hope that helps.
If it hurts to eat candy or drink pop or anything sweet and sugary then you have cavities.
GO SEE A DENTIST and be more respectful of your teeth... They are suppossed to last a LIFETIME...
It's not impossible to have cavities in the exact same spot on opposite sides of the mouth, but it would be a complete fluke thing and nearly impossible, anyway, because there are still slight variations in the shape of each and every tooth. The best way to tell if you have a cavity is if you can find a hole in the tooth, obviously, but there is also discoloration after it gets to certain point. You wil start to see yellow or brown around the area. You may or may not feel pain when the area is touched, too.
