How do i prevent cavities since i throw up all the time ?

I am 14 and have been ill for 2 months with a stomach illness which causes me to throwup. And i am not belimic. The doctors do not know what is wrong so they really can't do anything. Well recently i have went to the dentist and he told me i have a cavity, even though it is a baby toothe it still upsets me because i have done nothing wrong. I never have had a cavity before i have became ill. I know it is from the acid in the vomit. What else can i do besides brushing and flossing my teeth? Please HELP me
Answer:
Normally they will just fill the cavity for you and you dont need to worry anymore. If you ask your dentist for the best option i am sure they will help you along.
rinse with mouthwash also
The acid in your emesis did not cause the cavity. That would just cause the enamel to wear away. Cavities can happen to anyone as lots of foods contain sugars are cause debris that can be missed when you brush and floss. It is not something you did or didn't do since you take good care of your teeth. As for the emesis your docs should be giving you medication to help control this until they figure out what is going on.
I agree ask your DDS.
Get your doctor to do more extensive testing. There must be a reason your stomach is bothering you and it could result in worse problems than a cavity if you don't get it treated.
Talk to ur parents and see a specialist in gastro (stomach) pain. the cavity was probably there before u started throwing up and u just were not aware of it, no one vomits for no reason that is why i am asking u to see a specialist so things will get better.. and they will.
Use mouthwash. I had to do that when I got really sick. It should work.
You need to get to the root of your problem. It is not normal to vomit frequently when you are 14. You need to see a gastroenterologist and find out what is going on. There are also medications you can take for nausea that will prevent vomiting. See a doctor unless you really are bulemic and just don't want to admit it. If you are, you should know that this can cause bigger problems than cavities, such as cardiac arrhythmias and even death.
your mom and dad need to take you to different doctors! throwing up even once is really bad for the body as a whole. somebody needs to find out what is going on. on the oral hygeine thing try rinsing your mouth with hydrogen peroxide. just put a small amount (like a capful) in your mouth and swish it around for a few minutes -- like while you are showering or maybe just after you throw up. i think it works better than floss at getting stuff out from between your teeth and its a lot easier too. it also whitens your teeth.
The cavity you're having isn't because of the vomit. It is true that vomit actually causes erosion of the teeth, but not cavities, especially that you've been having the vomit since 2 monthes only. You should have this cavity restored to prevent further dental caries on this tooth and continue maintaining your oral hygiene to prevent dental caries and oral diseases on other teeth.
