How badly does it hurt to git braces and afterwards?

well i am kinda scared of gettin braces cuz some peaople act like it could be the worst thing that could ever happen to you. i want to know the truth. how does it feel afterwards. i am scared 2 git them.
Answer:
well i have braces right now and ive had them for almost a year. its really not that bad. people complain a lot about them..but trust me..its not a big deal.
after youve had the x-rays and your teeth have been molded, then you get them. they put this big thing in your mouth to keep your mouth wide and dry. they glue the metal on and attach the wires also. while theyre doing it i couldnt feel anything, just some pressure. it starts hurting later on..mine didnt start hurting til an hour later. so i guess it just depends. you should probably take some form of ibuprofen right before your appt. but it just aches for a few days and i recommend eating soft foods for a little while. (applesauce is great!) when you first get them..its probably the worst throughout your entire time of having braces. cause eventually you get used to them. and when you start going monthly to get them tightened, it just aches for a day or so. at least mine do. trust me..braces arent scary..just a little soreness here and there but theres nothing big to worry about. i had to get a couple teeth pulled but other than that..braces are pretty simple.
Well if there clip on retainers they dont hurt being put in and taking them out is a pain but if there "train-tracks" i heard they may hurt but it will all be worth it when you have got straight teeth!
You'll get fitted and assessed for them. The hard part will be the first two weeks, when your wires get placed in your brackets and adjusted. Won't be able to enjoy eating for a while. But overall, you work the regimen right and wear your retainers for as long as it takes after getting the braces off, you'll be so glad you did put them on in the first place.
it depends really on how bad your teeth are. some people say that they don't hurt at all. others say they hurt a lot. they don't hurt much for me, but it hurts at firs, and after you get them tightened.
It really isn't bad, just take some Tylenol or Advil afterwards, and or use ice packs if that seems to help.
Its NOT THAT BAD. I know why your nervous I was nervous too when I first got mine on because everyone was like oh they hurt so much. Right when you get them on they really don't hurt your mouth just feels kinda tight. the only bad part is going to sleep they kinda hurt then. I would take pain killers if your doctor says its okay ( mine did). You'll probally keep licking them too. ( I know sounds weird but just wait). After about three days you don't even notice there there. Trust me I still have them and I can't feel a thing. ( Get them off this month though!)
Well, I just got my braces on yesterday and when you get them on it doesn't hurt at all. Just the next day it hurts but it feels more sore. But if you take pain reliever it doesn't hurt. It sorta is hard to eat though because your teeth are tender. But the pain goes away in a couple of days. Well that is what all of my friends have said i am only on day 2. lol. Good Luck!
