How do you get a cavity?

Answer:
You get a cavity as food debris and bacteria cause the breakdown of the enamel of teeth. Once this breakdown occurs the decay will continue deeper into the tooth's stricture until it is treated. Proper brushing and flossing and the use of a fluoride mouthwash will help prevent cavities.
I think the sugar makes the hole in the teeth .
eat junk food
No good oral hygene
Bad hygiene or the lack of. See a Dentist.
cavities are produced in as little as 24 hours. if you allow old sugar and food to rot and sit on your teeth, the acid will begin to dig a hole in your enamel. If something isn't done about a cavity, it could spread into the root. this is why flossing is so important. love, Cinderella
Acid forming bacteria. They grow from the last meal you ate in your mouth and their poop is the acid. The acid corrodes your tooth enamel until they get inside your tooth and have a field day eating the insides of your tooth.
eating to much sugar, poor dental hygiene, some people get them from medications they take.
Well, if you don't take care of your teeth, then the enamel can basically decay..in other words in weakens and thus you get a cavity. Also if you eat an abundance of sugar it is bad for your teeth as well.
SWEETS!..and sometimes maybe bacteria, but definetly alot of sugar. Watch out for it. Try to avoid the pain by cutting down sugars, or even getting sugarless gum if you're a gum lover.
by not brushing and flossing everyday after each meal .also by eating sugar produts b4 bed without brushing..you need to get a dental cleaning once a year
You can get a cavity by not brushing your teeth and eating lots of candy / junk food / sodas ect. By not taking care of them !!
When you eat and drink there are acids that rots your teeth so that is why brushing and flossing is always good.
If you don't brush your teeth, eat junk like candy and soda.
It's a simple equation: sugary food + bacteria on the teeth produces acid. The acid eats away at the surface of the tooth to cause a hole and the decay process has begun. You can't eliminate alll sugary food from your life (even milk has lactase and fruit has fructase) and you also can't eliminate all of the bacteria in your mouth, we are humans and we have bacteria all over and in our bodies that usually don't cause problems. BUT, you need to decrease the amount of bacteria by brushing and flossing regularly (brush at least 2 x day and floss once a day) and also you need to choose wisely regarding the form of sugar you choose. A glass of grape juice is a better choice than a chewy granola bar because the juice doesn't spend much time in contact with the teeth since you sip and swallow pretty quickly. Chewy, sticky sweets will remain in your mouth longer and have more time to allow the acid to form. I won't tell you to avoid all sugar, it's just not gonna happen! But I will advise you to brush after eating sugary foods and if you can't get to a toothbrush, at the very least, rinse your mouth out with water. That will help readjust your mouths pH level to a more neutral level that doesn't allow for the bacteria to thrive as well.
Hope that helps!
