My tooth is barely coming out and the gum is sore. Part of the gum around my tooth looks like it's risen up. I'm not sure if it has to do with infection or if it's just part of the normal process of getting a wisdom tooth. The gum is not red, it just hurts a bit.
Answer:
How old are you? It may just be trying to come in or if you are older it may be trying to come in and can't and you will have to get it out. My gums use to swell a lot every once in awhile when they tried to come in.

How can you tell if you have a cavity? Is it possible to have 2 opposite of each other in the same spot ?
i want to know if its possible to have 2 cavities at the same time on the same teeth on each side of you mouth at the exact same spot. Or is it just a random whole thats just there because of the way your teeth are.
Answer:
The only way that you can know for sure whether or not you have a cavity is to have a dentist do an exam using a dental instrument and to view other areas that you can get cavities, x-rays will need to be done. What you have described is possible and maybe even more so if your teeth were formed in such a way that made it more of a target area for bacteria to build up.Hope that helps.
If it hurts to eat candy or drink pop or anything sweet and sugary then you have cavities.
GO SEE A DENTIST and be more respectful of your teeth... They are suppossed to last a LIFETIME...
It's not impossible to have cavities in the exact same spot on opposite sides of the mouth, but it would be a complete fluke thing and nearly impossible, anyway, because there are still slight variations in the shape of each and every tooth. The best way to tell if you have a cavity is if you can find a hole in the tooth, obviously, but there is also discoloration after it gets to certain point. You wil start to see yellow or brown around the area. You may or may not feel pain when the area is touched, too.

How can you stop grinding at night?

Answer:
I would like to write an article about Bruxism and its effects on Periodontal Disease. I've learned a lot in 21 years of practicing Dental Hygiene. I myself am a Bruxer, and I have learned from watching both my daughters (one grinds, the other doesn't), evaluating patients, and just piecing different information together how significant this problem is.
It is related to our stress levels and how we are programmed to handle stress. If we could all learn to punch punching bags before bed maybe it would release some of the tension. Chemically the only thing I recommend to my patients is to limit caffeine several hours before bed. I'm not sure which would be worse taking sleep medication or grinding my teeth. It sounds like a good idea because it helps you relax, but is the medication doing anything to me internally? We need a "chill pill" that is non harmful to the body. Maybe if someone could invent a lightweight electrode device that mildly shocked the jaw muscles when they were contracted. Sounds good, but not sure if its do-able. I must add though...if bruxism is eliminated, many dentists will find a big reduction in dental work needing to be preformed..hmmmmmm
my dentist recommended a sport guard worn while sleeping.
I've been told by friends that hypnosis helps...I don't know
how, but they said it works for them...
I am not a doctor, but I used to grind. I also had sleep problems and anxiety related to depression. I take Ambien and Trazadone before going to bed now and my husband says I never grind my teeth anymore. I also get a better sleep and my anxiety has subsided.Good luck! :)
Stress managment.
My wife tells me when I grind my teeth at night. I have found that stress and thinking about problems just before bed adds to the frequency.
I don't think you can stop the grinding, but if a person wears a bruxism appliance (dental guard), they won't be damaging their teeth. If you are a dentist, don't you offer this service at your clinic? I had mine made at the dentist's on recommendation from my chiropractor.
i dont know how to stop either, but i do it, and i wear guards, like the hockey players, and it works.....i have tmj and grinding agrivates it, this really helps, you can get them otc, or fitted ones designed just for you at your dentist
As one doctor to another (by the way THIS doctor can spell scientific) I recommend pulling out all the teeth of the person who is having trouble grinding their teeth at night. I have found this corrects the problem almost immediately.

Answer:
Minh81n - if you look at the ingredients of most tooth whitening products you will see that some form of hydrogen peroxide is used as the whitening agent. Just start using hydrogen peroxide instead of your regular mouth wash.Every morning and before bed brush your teeth using a baking soda %26 hydrogen peroxide toothpaste (Arm %26 Hammer have some good ones). After brushing and flossing use Hydrogen Peroxide as your mouth wash. You can buy hydrogen peroxide (3% in the brown bottle) at your local drugstore for about $1 for a 16 ounce bottle. Mix 陆 ounce hydrogen peroxide with 陆 ounce hot water and swirl in your mouth for about 1 minute. Spit out (DO NOT SWALLOW) and then rinse your mouth out several times with cool water. Not only will will using hydrogen peroxide help whiten your teeth, hydrogen peroxide kills the bacteria in the mouth that causes bad breath and cavities.
White out!
you could brush your teeth.
regular brushing
whitestrips
brush for hours and hours
Several things you can do. Brush your teeth twice a day atleast. Also, use mouthwash each time. They have something that's called crest teeth whitening. I used them recently and it definately did whiten my teeth up. Most importantly, brush ATLEAST 2x a day.
Sometimes teeth are naturally dark, but you can go to a drug store or supermarket and buy teeth whitening stuff, it is kind of like bleaching, and the flourine in it is high concentrated. you leave that in for a few minutes and you will feel the difference a week later :D
you can buy Crest Whitening strips at local grocery stores like...dominion or wall*mart :p
If you want to keep your teeth white, just follow the standards. Brush your teeth at least twice a day, morning and night, and if possible after every meal. Use floss daily. Use mouthwash. These over the counter whitening systems, give an artificial look to natural teeth, making them look almost see through. If you can cut out coffee, soda, and tea, things that stain the teeth that will help too.
you could just get them cleaned or just buy whitening strips!good luck!
There are several good over the counter teeth whiteners. My daughter was a model and they had her using a product by colgate. As long as you use a name brand your OK, BUT, even those say not to over use them past the time they specify because it removes enamel from your teeth.
whitening toothpastes can have an effect over the long term and stop the problem from coming back. caffine and tabacco are big stainers of teeth. if you want to actually whiten your teeth, there are a lot, really a lot, or products available at the pharmacy. no idea about the cost of getting the dentist to do it- though it is probably worth it if it is for a wedding or something similar.
crest whitestrips supreme, you can only get it through a dentists office for 57 dollars...i highly recommend, i started seeing results after the first time i used them.
They get white by taking care of them... Just get some toothpaste with whitening in it, or use baking soda when you brush
If you are serious about it, you have to go to a dentist to have mouthpieces made for your upper and lower jaw. That will cost about 200. Then go to your local big-name grocery store and find the tooth-whitening products. I forget the name of the one i used but it will cost about $30 (but you get a lot of it) for the gel to put in the mouth-pieces to put in your mouth while you sleep. And yes, it works...dramatically. Don't over-do it or your teeth will become sensitive even to your breathing.

How can you have your teeth white and healthy?
When I flip through magazines, I c people like Christina Agulaera with perfect teeth. (Even though they get their's whitened and fixed by dentists) How can I have beautiful teeth like them without a trip to the dentist?
Answer:
Arm %26 Hammer baking soda see improvements in teeth in less than two weeks worked for me and i have braces.
By brushing your teeth every single day 3 times
Crest whitestrips works for me. The classic and the renewal line. But of course, need to brush, floss and get yearly checkups.
Brush your teeth 3 times a day, go to the dentist to have checkups regularly, and floss daily. Also, you can use listerene and crest whitestrips if you want
brush ups
crest white strips
brush your teeth
baking soda + a little hydrogen peroxide will work to whiten your teeth if you use the combo daily. Just be SURE to not swallow the hysrogen peroxide and rinse very well. Other than that brushing after meals and over the counter products are the best bet. Good Luck!
Arm %26 Hammer Advance White Toothpaste - @ $3.00 tube. You can tell the difference in matter of days. Also remember to floss... Also, red lipstick always makes teeth look whiter.

How can u stop grinding ur teeth at night?
My brother says he hears me doing it but I never realize it
Answer:
Most people who grind their teeth at night, don't know that they are doing it!
It is called Bruxism and your DDS can fit you for an appliance or nightguard to wear when sleeping to prevent it from messing up your teeth...Orthodontist too can fit the appliance.
Wear a mouth guard.
i do this too! i dont know why ut i think you should ask the doctor or something like that, im going to do tat too before my teeth are really flat from all that!
my brother has the same problem.
you should go see a dentist and ask him about it.
he might mold your teeth and give you this thing to wear on your teeth at night.
my moms a dentist and she says Reduce stress and get a night guard. Stress is mostly wat causes it.
You should use a mouth guard.
give me a link on my question okay, man arrogance.
Get a night guard. You can have one fitted at the dentist or buy one at the drugstore. Get the one where you boil and mold to your teeth. Don't use a sports one. It's too soft and may make you want to bite down more. The night guard and prevent damage to your teeth from grinding by eliminating top/bottom teeth contact. Good luck!

How can the gums be regrown?
Answer:
When I had gum disease and two areas that were particularly damaged, my dentist put me on periostat. It is basically a low dose antibiotic that I had to take for 3 months. Additionally, I start using a sonicare toothbrush. Over the course of a year or so my gums have recovered completely. My problem was fairly limited and caught early, so I'm not sure this would work for severe problems.
You mean after some sort of wound? They'll re-grow on their own. The body has its own system of healing itself.
To my knowledge they cant
I had a gum problem (because of a lost tooth due to an accident) and after many visits to different dentists all across my area, I'm pretty sure when I write: gums do not "grow back". There's gum grafting though (but only for covering up roots).
If it's from brushing too hard, no. I have the same thing. Switch to a soft bristle brush to try to stop the receding. Ask your dentist how to brush correctly. It helped me a lot. Switching and brushing correctly can make it come back slightly but never like it was before. Depending on the recession, there is a thing called gum grafting. Where they take tissue from the roof of your mouth and place it over the receded areas. My doc also placed a filling there. See a dentist for more info. If it is the gum between the teeth, it may come back slightly. Depending on if it caused by gum disease or if you are flossing incorrectly. Best to ask your hygienist about it. If it's from extractions, yes, your hole will heal. I had all 4 wisdom teeth taken out and it takes about 2 months to fully heal. If it's just small cuts, yes, your body will heal. If it's larger, best to see a dentist or a doctor.
